Governor Mark Dayton says a court appeal is one option after regulators’ decision Monday allowing Enbridge to move forward with its controversial Line 3 pipeline upgrade in northern Minnesota. Dayton says the Public Utilities Commission chose to evade “very legitimate concerns” raised by the state Commerce Department. “I’m told there was not even any discussion. They just immediately voted to disregard all those, I think, very thoughtful, very well-reasoned concerns,” Dayton says.
The administration has 30 days to file an appeal with the court. Dayton leaves office in early January. Governor-elect Tim Walz said just before the election he’s satisfied with an earlier decision by the Public Utilities Commission to let the Enbridge Line 3 upgrade move forward.
