As the Dayton administration puts final touches on its bid to bring Amazon’s second corporate headquarters to Minnesota, small businesspeople are asking for a level playing field. Danny Schwartzman, owner of Common Roots Cafe in Minneapolis, says they don’t want tax breaks or a handout, but rather “having access to affordable health care,… having employees who are trained that have great education, which is actually something Amazon’s asking for…, programs that are particularly geared towards helping us succeed without access to credit.”
The group is asking lawmakers to invest in programs that leave more money in the pockets of everyday Minnesotans so they can better support businesses in their communities.
