Governor Mark Dayton is again asking Republicans to agree to a special legislative session to “begin to address the serious disparities affecting Minnesotans of color” and to extend unemployment benefits for several hundred Iron Range mine workers. “When people are in distress we’re all Minnesotans. We’re gonna join together and support that,” Dayton said. House Speaker Kurt Daudt (DOWT) said earlier he’s open to a special session if he gets assurances that Dayton will not hold up the PolyMet project. The governor said today it would be “irresponsible” to insert politics into the decision, and told the speaker he will not impede reviews of the project, *if* the Final Environmental Impact Statement is determined to be adequate.
