Governor Mark Dayton says even with planned cuts in federal subsidies, funding for the MinnesotaCare health insurance program “should be sufficient” — unless Congress or the president “further savage” the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). He says, “We have the capacity to operate MinnesotaCare through calendar 2018 and 2019, but I don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves because we don’t know what’s gonna happen in Washington.” Dayton signed an agreement with the federal government implementing “reinsurance” to hold down health insurance increases, but federal funding for MinnesotaCare would also be reduced. Dayton says he’ll continue fighting against that.
