Governor Mark Dayton today told House Republicans they must fix an error affecting U-S Bank stadium revenue before he’ll sign a tax cut bill the legislature sent him. Dayton says he’d also like the State High School League’s tax exemption permanently re-instated. As for tobacco tax reductions currently in the bill, Dayton says he doesn’t agree with them “but I don’t expect to agree with everything that’s in the tax bill.” Speaker Kurt Daudt reassured Dayton that House Republicans will do what he wants on the tax bill, so he can feel free to sign it and they can then discuss other items for a special session. Dayton says to call a special session on a bonding bill the legislature failed to pass, Republicans must guarantee funding for a number of projects, including a U-of-M Health Sciences Building and upgrades for the state Security Hospital and the Minnesota Sex Offender Treatment Program in Saint Peter.
