Dayton to sign $10M bill to repair MNLARS afer MN House passes compromise measure

March 22, 2018 By Bill Werner

Governor Mark Dayton says he’ll sign a 10-million-dollar funding bill to continue fixing the state’s struggling vehicle registration system after the House passed the compromise measure on a strong vote (124-to-6) this afternoon.  “There is no excuse for it being March 22nd, when we convene on February 20th, for us to finally get this work done, said House Democratic Minority Leader Melissa Hortman. Republican Representative Paul Torkelson from Hanska lamented that Dayton doesn’t have to round up the 10 million dollars by cutting state agency budgets:  “He finally stepped forward and said, yes, I take responsibility, but that responsibility at this point has been only verbal,” Torkelson said.  Governor Dayton said he will not “cannibalize” state agencies.
