(Madelia, MN) — Governor Mark Dayton surveys damage today (Fri 9 am.) in the south-central Minnesota community of Madelia, two days after a fire destroyed seven buildings on the town’s main street. The governor plans to meet with some of the business owners who lost everything in the blaze. The governor will then travel to North Mankato, making a visit to Dakota Meadows Middle School.(11:30 a.m.) Dayton will be speaking with school counselors and support staff to discuss possible solutions to the state’s school counselor shortage. Minnesota’s counselor to student ratio is 800-to-one one — one of the worst in the nation.
