Governor Mark Dayton plans to meet with county attorneys later this week on whether they should call grand juries to investigate allegations of priest sex-abuse cover-ups in Catholic dioceses across Minnesota. The governor says, “Any time there’s strong indication of possible unlawful activity, then we have under statute, as specified there, my responsibility is to make that determination.”
The Diocese of Saint Cloud said earlier it released a list of clergy “likely to have abused minors” and the Duluth Diocese said it’s given victims’ attorneys information on “all credibly accused priests.” Officials of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis said “there has been disclosure… at every stage of the bankruptcy process.”
