The Drug Enforcment Agency (DEA) is now involved in the investigation of Prince’s death. The U-S Attorney’s Office along with the DEA are joining the Carver County Sheriff in investigating what caused the Minnesota music icon’s death last month. Earlier today, Minneapolis attorney William Mauzy, who is representing a California doctor specializing in addiction treatment, said Prince’s representatives had set up an emergency meeting with the doctor the day before Prince died at his Paisley Park studio.

A spokesman for the U-S Attorney’s office issued this statement today:

“The US Attorney’s Office and DEA are joining the Carver County Sheriff’s investigation. The DEA and US Attorney’s Office are able to augment this local investigation with federal resources and expertise about prescription drug diversion. While this remains an ongoing investigation, we will have no further comment.”
