Tuesday at midnight is the open enrollment deadline for people to purchase health insurance on the individual market in Minnesota. MNsure C-E-O Allison O’Toole advises Minnesotans, “Don’t wait to do this. Get started now, get the help you need, and avoid those last-minute crunches.” Buying health insurance through MNsure is the only way to receive federal tax credits. If you’re not eligible for credits, you will automatically receive a 25 percent discount on health insurance for 2017, whether you buy through MNsure or directly from an insurance company. It’s a new law the legislature passed and the governor signed this week. People who get insurance through their employer do not receive the discount.
