The deadline is extended and those interested in serving on the University of Minnesota Board of Regents have an additional week through December 7th to submit applications. The Regent Candidate Advisory Council will choose a short list for public interviews, then make recommendations to the legislature by January 15th. Advisory Council Chair Dan Wolter says after that, “If you make it that far into the legislative process, you need to go meet with 201 legislators to earn their vote. So basically the candidate…[needs to run their] own campaign after our process of the recommendations of the nominating committee.”
There are four open seats and a vote by the legislature could come anytime between March and the end of session next May.
