Republican lawmakers and others renew their call this morning for Governor Mark Dayton to immediately halt an election in which child care providers are deciding whether to have a union. The latest round began last week when Republican State Representative Tara Mack alleged state agencies administering the election misinterpreted state law, which Mack said will “result in significant disenfranchisement of independent child care providers who deserve a voice.” The governor called the objection “harassing tactics” by those trying to block child care providers’ efforts to have a union. Mack responded the error could mean nine-thousand fewer providers voting in the election — which unionization opponents say makes it easier for the union to win.
