Sen. Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls)
A bill to reduce business taxes passed the Minnesota Senate today (Thurs), but Democrats refused to include the Iron Range unemployment benefit extension that’s a bone of contention with Republicans. Redwood Falls Senator Gary Dahms (DAMES) urged Democrats, “Put these two together, because let’s look out for the folks on the Iron Range. Let’s get these benefits out to ’em.” Democrats support extending jobless benefits for Iron Rangers, but don’t want business tax cuts attached to it. Governor Mark Dayton has cancelled an out-of-state trip and is urging the Republican-controlled House to pass both bills separately, which he says he’ll sign as soon as he receives them.
