Dems say MN House Speaker Daudt didn’t tell truth about sex harassment complaints

November 9, 2017 By Bill Werner

Democrats accuse Minnesota House Speaker, Republican Kurt Daudt of making false statements when he said that he has not received “a specific complaint of sexual harrassment since I have been speaker.”  A spokeswoman says House Democratic Minority Leader Melissa Hortman last May 19th informed Speaker Daudt of allegations of inappropriate behavior by a male Republican lawmaker during the 2017 legislative session. The spokeswoman says Hortman named the alleged offender but not the victim, who wanted to remain anonymous to avoid possible retaliation. Hortman’s spokeswoman says Speaker Daudt indicated the complaint would be taken seriously, but that Democrats don’t know if anything was done after that. Daudt’s office has not returned calls seeking a response.
