(St. Cloud, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is reporting that at around 5:15 am this morning, a suspect being treated at St. Cloud Hospital shot and killed a sheriff’s deputy who had been monitoring the welfare of the suspect who was a subject of an investigation outside the St. Cloud tri-county area. Responding security personnel subdued the suspect. The suspect later died. The incident was confined to the patient’s hospital room. No hospital patients or personnel were injured. There is no ongoing threat to public safety. More information is expected at a news conference today at 1:30 pm.
