We’ve had some darn cold weather the past week or so, but experts say lake and river ice around Minnesota isn’t quite ready yet for foot traffic — to say nothing of vehicles. Lisa Dugan (DOO-gan) with the D-N-R says, “We are urging people just to wait a little bit longer to get out on the ice. Give the lakes and rivers a little bit more time to freeze.” Dugan says before you go out on the lake, check with bait shops and resorts in the area which can have information about hazardous areas.
