Authorities in Detroit Lakes are trying to catch a wild animal, believed to be a fisher, that attacked a five-year-old boy late last week and inflicted significant scratches on his face that required a trip to the emergency room. Police Chief Steve Todd says, “The boy had told the officers that he had tried to pick up a large black cat with a long tail and that, when he did that, the animal attacked him.” Todd says investigators after gathering more information concluded the animal was likely a fisher. Nearby residents say they saw a fisher in the area which could have been the culprit. Traps have been set.
