Democrats and Republicans are sparring again over the new Senate Office Building across the street from the State Capitol. Republicans say moving in before the next election just wastes taxpayer money — but Democratic Majority Leader Tom Bakk (BOCK) says other state entities need Republicans’ current quarters in the State Office Building. Republican Leader David Hann (HAN) responds if that’s the case, Bakk should say who is it and when they’re going to move, “because that’s all news to us.” Republicans opposed the new office building and Democrat Bakk calls their refusal to move “short-term political gamesmanship.”
