Minnesota D-F-L Party leaders are touting what they call “tremendous enthusiasm” by those visiting their State Fair booth, including what they say was record-breaking merchandise sales and strong volunteer recruitment. State Democratic Party Chairman Ken Martin says there’s a message to Republicans: “If they think they can flip Minnesota, they’ve got another thing coming, because I can tell you the conversations I had at the State Fair booth, Minnesotans aren’t buying Donald Trump’s line here.”
Republicans expect a big push by the Trump campaign to win Minnesota in 2020. Shortly after announcing his re-election bid, the president reportedly told Minnesota Republican Party Chair Jennifer Carnahan, “I will be there” — meaning to campaign in Minnesota.
