Digi-Key has committed to a ten-year expansion in Thief River Falls that could bring in another thousand jobs in what may be a 300-million-dollar investment. Mayor Brian Holmer says incentives approved by the legislature convinced Digi-Key to move ahead — or they might have left Thief River Falls or even the state. Holmer says, “Being where we’re located and not having the transportation routes and stuff like a bigger city has access to, was kind of a struggle for them to decide to even look at Thief River Falls.” Digi-Key currently has over three thousand employees, and Mayor Holmer says North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum recently met with Digi-Key executives.
