The D-N-R says it will close its French River fish hatchery on Lake Superior just north of Duluth because it uses too much energy and it’s too expensive to repair failing equipment. Fisheries Chief Don Pereira says production of Kamloops trout, which are stocked in Lake Superior, will be continued elsewhere. He says the D-N-R remains strongly committed to providing great fishing opportunities along the North Shore.
