The controversial Fargo-Moorhead flood diversion project cleared a major hurdle this week when the Minnesota D-N-R granted a permit for what’s dubbed “Plan B.” Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney says, “We gotta get going and get moving on it, ’cause the more we delay it adds cost to the project…. Now we got a permit. Now let’s get going and get into the ‘build’ part of it.”
But Dave Morken with the MNDAK Upstream Coalition, which sued in 2013 to stop the project, says there are still lots of hurdle. “Pardon me for saying this, but the Fargo spin machine’s gonna be saying it’s all a go, a go, a go — but they better read the fine print too,” Morken says.
