As Minnesota gets another major dumping, MN-DOT reminds people it’s against the law to push snow onto or next to a public highway or street. MN-DOT’s T-J Melcher in Bemidji says motorists could run into the piles, plus it impairs their sight-lines. He says, “If folks come by after that, and they’re clearing their driveways or clearing their business areas [or] their parking lots and they push the snow out back into those right-of-way areas, it just re-creates that dangerous situation.” No snow dumping laws and ordinances also apply to ditches. Melcher adds piles of snow in or near roadways are an attraction to children, which creates a very dangerous situation.
