Dozens of Democrats officially filed at the State Capitol Tuesday to run for office as the filing period now opens through June 5th. House Minority Leader Melissa Hortman contends they have good case against the Republican majority going into the fall election. Hortman says, “For these candidates, [it’s] very easy to go door-to-door for those who are running against incumbents and say, these folks are not capable of running the place. They were not able to find those areas where there could be agreement and to make progress.”
Some of the major bills of the 2018 legislative session will likely be vetoed. Republicans say they moved well toward the governor in many areas but Dayton was unwilling to compromise.
