Drug overdoses up in parts of Minnesota

June 7, 2019 By Bill Werner

Officials say drug overdoses are up across the state, as Minneapolis logs its highest-ever number of overdoses in one week — 50 between May 28th and June 3rd, including one death. M-P-D spokesman John Elder says investigations don’t point to a tainted batch of any particular drug — and he reminds people that any street drugs might contain additional drugs that could be very deadly.

Saint Paul and Washington County have also issued alerts in recent days due to higher than usual overdose numbers. Officials are also reminding people about Minnesota’s good samaritan law that protects people from being charged if they summon medical help for someone overdosing on drugs.
