The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office says it’s “highly likely” the January 17th start of early voting in the presidential primary will be delayed, because of a lawsuit challenging that only President Trump’s name is on the Republican primary ballot. Attorney Erick Kaardal, who represents the plaintiff in that case, says about the expected delay, “People in Minnesota don’t care about early voting if it’s a one-candidate race. So until we get the ballot straight, no one should be voting.” He adds, “The Secretary of State’s approach of being concerned about early voting, but only having one candidate on the G-O-P ballot, is absurd.”
Kaardal calls Minnesota’s presidential primary “a very stupid system” which is “unconstitutional because political party chairs shouldn’t be in control of who is on the… ballot.” A spokesman for the Secretary of State says that office does not comment on pending litigation.
