The NBA today named Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards as the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, March 1. This is Edwards’ third career Player of the Week honors (Nov. 13, 2023 and March 17, 2025), and he becomes the third player in franchise history to win the weekly award three or more times (Kevin Garnett, 15x and Karl-Anthony Towns, 7x).

Edwards finished the week averaging 28.7 points per game on 45.7% shooting, 3.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 37.8 minutes per game. Following the 3-0 week by the Timberwolves, he ranks third in the NBA in scoring (29.5 ppg).

The 6-4 guard has helped the Timberwolves to a 38-23 record this season and have won six out their last seven games, including riding a three-game winning streak after Sunday night’s 117-108 win over the Denver Nuggets. Minnesota currently sits as the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

In the 124-121 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Feb. 24, Edwards finished the night a game-high 34 points, knocking down five shots from deep, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, marking his 27th 30+ point game of the season (119th career) and his NBA-leading sixth such game during the month of February (finished with seven 30+ point games in the month). He scored 25 of his game-high 34 points in the first half of the Feb. 24 game, marking his 21st 20+ point half this season (currently at 22 such halves). The only players to record more 20+ point halves this season are Luka Dončić (29) and Donovan Mitchell (23).

Edwards continued his strong play in the Wolves’ 94-88 win over the LA Clippers on Feb. 26, when he ended the night with a game-high 31 points on 12-of-24 shooting and five assists, marking his 28th 30+ point game of the season (120th career) and his ninth 30+ point/5+ assist game of the season (60th career).

The four-time All-Star became just the 22nd player in NBA history to record 60+ games with 30+ points and 5+ assists before the age of 25.

The Atlanta native wrapped up the week with another solid performance in the Timberwolves’ win over the Nuggets on Sunday afternoon, leading the way for the Wolves with a team-high 21 points, six assists and a game-high-tying two blocks, marking his fifth consecutive and 44th 20+ point game of the season (299th career). It also marked his 16th 20+ point/5+ assist game of the season (136th career). Only Garnett (294) has recorded more 20+ point/5+ assist games in franchise history. Playing in his 25th road game of this season, Edwards has totaled 809 points on the road through the start of the 2025-26 campaign, the most points through the first 25 road games of a season in franchise history. This marks just the 10th time an NBA player has scored 800+ points in the first 25 road games of a season since the 1996-97 season.

Jalen Duren from the Detroit Pistons was this week’s Player of the Week from the Eastern Conference.
