A three-thousand-page Environmental Impact Statement released today (Fri) concludes that “with the proposed engineering controls,” there would be *no* significant water quality impacts from the proposed PolyMet mine in northeastern Minnesota. That’s something environmental groups hotly dispute. The release of the E-I-S will trigger a 30-day public review period that begins next week. The decision on whether to issue a “permit to mine” rests with Governor Mark Dayton, who has said it will be the most monumental and difficult decision of his time in office.
