Minnesota I-T Commissioner Thomas Baden says he’ll retire February 2nd after 36 years with the state, citing health reasons. Baden has been under fire for ongoing problems with the state’s new vehicle registration system. At a mid-November hearing, Hutchinson Senator Scott Newman asked Baden, “When are you gonna have the defects in this system corrected?” Baden replied, “I think by the December release we’re going to have a major dent in them.”
Some worry about similar problems when the state rolls out the new REAL ID drivers licenses. Baden assured lawmakers at that hearing, “It’s gonna work.”
