(Waseca, MN) — Emerald Ash borer is in Waseca County for the first time. That brings the total number of counties impacted by E-A-B to 32. A D-N-R forester noticed woodpecker damage to several ash trees and that lead to the discovery of live E-A-B larvae. The invasive pest can kill ash trees. E-A-B tunnel under bark to feed on the part of the tree that moves nutrients along the trunk. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture put restrictions in place to limit the movement of firewood and ash material.
