**OPENS WITH SOUND**
Protesters are drumming and chanting outside the Minnesota House chamber as lawmakers consider a measure that would push forward with the controversial Enbridge pipeline. Eryn Wise with Honor the Earth says it threatens two thirds of North America’s wild rice beds. Wise says, “Many of us were on the ground in Standing Rock [North Dakota Access Pipeline] and we do not want to bring the same type of fight to Minnesota, but we will if we are not listened to.” Republican Representative Pat Garofalo responds there’s been a two-and-a-half-year delay on a multi-billion-dollar project. He says, “The environmental extremists who are using [the] regulatory process to delay decision-making on this are hurting Minnesota. They’re hurting the economy. They’re putting the environment at risk.”
