Drugmaker Mylan has been at the center of a firestorm regarding the cost of their Epi-Pens. The company has raised a standard two-pack to about 600 dollars. It had cost just $100 in 2009. Michael Pitzl is the pharmacy director at HCMC:
“We are the only country that I can think of and I’ve done some research on…that the government does not step in and regulate manufactures price costs. Right now they can litereally do whatever the traffic will bare.”
Pitzl says the Epi-Pen is not the only overpriced drug, there are a number of others:
Mylan has since announced it will provide instant savings cards worth $300 to patients who have to pay full price for the drug out of pocket. Pitzl says “this is just a small crumb.”
