Representative Erin Murphy received the party endorsement for governor at the D-F-L convention in Rochester Saturday. Murphy rallied the faithful with an impassioned speech about unity and Democratic values. Murphy told the assembled crowd “my fellow Democrats this is no time for a tippy toe kind of politics, it is time for us to stand up together for an honest and progressive vision for the people of Minnesota. Murphy won the endorsement after a contentious seven rounds of balloting and a push for “no endorsement” from her DFL opponents Congressman Tim Walz and State Auditor Rebecca Otto. Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson got the GOP endorsement and he’ll likely square off against former Governor Tim Pawlenty in the August primary.
