It’s been one year since Philando Castile was fatally shot by Officer Jeronimo Yanez during a traffic stop in Falcon Heights and several events are marking the anniversary. There’s a celebration of Castile’s life tonight (630-830pm) at the Gibbs Farm, not far from where he was shot. Black Love has a remembrance celebration this afternoon and evening (3-9pm) at Como Park. Diamond Reynolds will speak. And tomorrow there’s a peace lantern release and moment of silence in Falcon Heights. After a jury acquitted Yanez of manslaughter charges, Governor Mark Dayton has been meeting with leaders of the black community about where Minnesota goes from here, but has not yet come out with any proposals.
