The Vikings play their final pre-season game tonight at U-S Bank Stadium–and they’ll be without QB Teddy Bridgewater, who suffered a devastating knee injury at practice on Tuesday.
Marc Tompkins is a professor of orthopedic sports medicine and says recovery from such an injury can be long–as long as six to nine months or longer depending on the injury. Tompkins says “with an ACL injury, it’s one of the main supporting ligaments in the knee and when that’s torn, it can be very difficult to be functioning at a high level in cutting and pivoting activities, obviously football being one of those…”.
Vikings Head Athletic Trainer Eric Sugarman says Bridgewater is scheduled for surgery within the next few days and confirms the recovery time will be “significant.”
