The widow of Mahnomen County Deputy Chris Dewey was “taken advantage of” during the final hours of her life. That’s according to Hannah Rentmeester, whose 33-year-old sister Emily Dewey died January 31st. A GoFundMe page says hours before Emily passed away, a man who claimed to be her boyfriend coerced Emily into making him the executor of her estate and the beneficiary of the money she received after Chris was killed. The family says the dispute involves everything that belonged to Emily – including her remains. The family is trying to raise 18-thousand dollars to hire an attorney to contest the will. They say any leftover funds will be donated to the “Concerns of Police Survivors,” a support group for families of officers killed in the line of duty. The name of the GoFundMe page is “Fighting for the Deweys.” Thanks to KFGO.
