The family of a woman killed in August 2nd natural gas explosion at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis is suing CenterPoint Energy and their contractor, Master Mechanical, alleging work crews “ran to save themselves” instead of warning people inside the building. The Star Tribune reports the lawsuit by the family of 47-year-old Ruth Berg claims CenterPoint and Master Mechanical made several crucial errors: not telling school officials about “high degree of danger” from moving the gas meter, and not closing shut-off valves which caused natural gas to flow into a confined area where it would explode. Master Mechanical officials said they’re reviewing the lawsuit, and CenterPoint hasn’t immediately responded to requests for comment.
