The Fargo-Moorhead flood water diversion project has cleared a significant legal hurdle — the Diversion Authority receiving a permit from the Buffalo Red River Watershed District which allows construction to move ahead. A Becker County judge dismissed the case after a settlement agreement was reached between upstream opponents and the Diversion Authority. Executive Director Joel Paulsen says it will help resolve other remaining lawsuits and allow work to proceed in the new year.
