Fargo’s “Sandbag Central” closes tonight (Fri 7pm), days ahead of schedule and 600-thousand sandbags under the original goal of one-million. It’s because of the slow snow-melt and lack of precipitation the past couple weeks. Fargo is now preparing for a possible crest on the Red River two feet lower than what’s considered worst-case. Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney is thanking volunteers, civic groups, businesses and city employees for their hard work the past few days filling sandbags.
