The FBI is investigating an explosion at a mosque in Bloomington early Saturday. Officials say an improvised explosive device went off, damaging a portion of the mosque. No one was hurt. Agents are trying to determine who may have caused the explosion, and why. Gina lives with her grandparents across the street from the mosque and says she felt the blast and “shot out of bed, because I felt the house vibrate.” Mohammed Omar, Executive Director of Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center says in spite of the horror of the act itself, he is “happy and pleased that the community, the Bloomington community and that the faith community, they came to [with] support and we hope that we will stay strong and stay together.” Jabril Afyare, President of American Somali Citizens League calls the incident “a hate crime and whether it’s a church or a mosque or a synagogue, it’s a place of worship and it’s against the laws of this country.”
