The Department of Health and Human Services has denied Governor Dayton’s request for an extension to the MNsure open enrollment period. Secretary Sylvia Burwell in a letter to the governor says the deadline dates are set forth in federal regulation but adds that her staff will “explore options that may be available to ensure that consumers in Minnesota have the time they need to enroll in coverage.” Asked what those options might be, Dayton responds:
Dayton had requested the open enrollment period be extended from January 31st to February 28th this year.
