Today marks the opening of the film “American Assassin”. It’s based on a book of the same name by late Minnesota author Vince Flynn. His wife Lysa was on hand for the pre-premier party in Roseville and says seeing the film was bittersweet, because, “unfortunately Vince isn’t here to see it, although I do feel he is with us and approving and I know he’d be super happy about the outcome of this.” Vince Flynn died in 2013 from prostate cancer. He was 47-years old. His books follow the exploits of undercover agent Mitch Rapp–played in the film by Dlyan O’Brien. Lysa Flynn says having the film premiere in Minnesota with loved-ones close by “would’ve been really important to Vince, to be able to invite his family and friends to this kind of an event in celebration of the kickoff of the movie release, it would’ve meant the world to him.” Take a listen to MNN’s Scott Peterson’s red carpet interviews with Lysa FLynn, former Governor Tim Pawlenty and star Dylan O’Brien, in this excerpt from the weekly Minnesota Matters program.
