A nine-month-old from Clay County — the Moorhead area — is the state’s first child death from COVID-19. Officials say the child did *not* have an underlying health condition. State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says based on what they know at this point, the death appears to be “an isolated incident related to this infant’s very specific situation.” Malcolm says, “As we understand it, this is one of the youngest deaths reported in the country to-date. In order to better understand the situation, we’ve asked C-D-C to do some additional analysis.”
This is the first COVID death of a person under age 20 in Minnesota.
