Minnesota’s first ever statewide high school mock election will allow students to weigh in on their picks for president. Secretary of State Steve Simon says “voting is really often about getting good habits started early and all the numbers and all the studies show that if students think of themselves as voters before they are voters, and if they vote that first time they’re eligible, they’re more likely to make it a lifetime habit.” Simon says more than a quarter of all high schools in the state have already signed up for the mock elections. Results will be reported the week before the real election in November.
