We’ve had the snow, and now as often happens in Minnesota, here comes the cold — with overnight lows below zero on the way for much of the state. Tyler Hasenstein with the National Weather Service says, “It looks like Saturday morning is gonna be quite chilly, and then we’ll warm up briefly again towards the end of the weekend, and then around the New Year and then into Wednesday of next week we’re also gonna have temperatures cool down quite a bit.”
Hasenstein says by New Year’s, overnight lows could be in the negative teens, with windchills below minus-20. He says that’s expected in the northwest and west, “but even around the Twin Cities metro we could be looking at negative teens windchills for Tuesday and Wednesday next week.”
