First TV ad of governor’s race hits airwaves today (with AUDIO)

June 13, 2018 By Bill Werner

The first T-V ad in the race for governor hits the airwaves and Internet today, touting Democrats Lori Swanson and Rick Nolan as “proven progressive leaders.”  Swanson and running mate Nolan are in a three-way race for governor in the Democratic primary two months away. The ad quotes major publications that say Swanson “led the way in derailing Trump’s first immigration order” and is a “fighter for the little guys”… and calling Nolan “most effective in Congress” with “tenacity and a willingness to build coalitions”. Campaign spokeswoman Ruth Stanoch says, “If you’re going to make a positive difference, you run a positive campaign. So this first ad is indicative of the type of campaign that we are running and that we plan to run throughout this election cycle.”

Republican-endorsed candidate for governor Jeff Johnson says it’s nice that his Democratic rivals “are willing to point out so blatantly how out of touch they are” and more-of-the-same is the last thing Minnesotans want.
