The spring melt is underway in many parts of Minnesota. Monday a flood warning was issued along the Redwood River, but National Weather Service Hydrologist Craig Schmidt says overall flood forecasts stayed static in March.
Schmidt told MNN they have seen increased levels in the Minnesota Basin due to late season snow. But it has only risen slightly above normal flood potential. Schmidt says current forecasts put the run-off peak for the Mississippi River Basin likely in mid-April. Schmidt says the warning along the Redwood was prompted by the presence of a melting ice dam.
