Jerry Kill will *not* have a permanent position at the University of Minnesota after stepping down as head football coach for health reasons, because the two sides were unable to reach an agreement — that’s according to a report in the Star Tribune. U-of-M President Eric Kaler (KAY-ler) says he and Kill had extensive conversations but “could not identify a full-time opportunity that met both his needs and those of the University.” Kill says Kaler proposed he speak on behalf of the U, raise money and teach classes — but Kill said he wants to be involved with athletics. Kaler says they want Kill to remain a part of the University community and the athletics department and others are identifying and discussing opportunities with him. Kill has reportedly taken a 600-thousand-dollar lump-sum payment, an option in his contract.
