Former D-N-R Commissioner Tom Landwehr will be fighting against the proposed Twin Metals mine in northern Minnesota in his new job as executive director of Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters. Landwehr’s ex-boss, former Governor Mark Dayton, opposed the Twin Metals project and Landwehr says to current Governor Tim Walz: “We want to advise… that this is one of those projects that you shouldn’t even begin the process with, because it’s just so bad and it puts the Boundary Waters at such risk.”
But Landwehr says right now the bigger battle is in Washington D-C, where the Trump administration is trying to fast-track the project. Backers say it will bring badly-needed jobs to northern Minnesota.
