The former manager of the Ashby Farmers Coop Elevator is facing federal mail fraud charges for making more than a million dollars in payments to himself. The U-S Attorney’s Office says 56-year-old Jerry Hennessey of Dalton turned himself in and appeared in federal court Tuesday in Minneapolis. The coop contacted police in September after discovering Hennessey wrote checks to himself for more than 40-thousand dollars and one for 135-thousand dollars. The complaint says more than a million dollars in payments were made to his Cabela’s credit card and hundreds of thousands of dollars for hunting trips and big game safaris in Africa. Hennessey fled to Iowa when the coop identified the alleged suspicious payments. KFGO
